Power duo dominates the races

More altitude difference, shorter distances, but still the same winners. The mountain goats couldn’t change the watt monster’s dominance.

Both the first and the second race today were peppered with tough climbs. One would think that climbing experts, such as Gino Mäder or Hermann Pernsteiner, would be able to do something about it. While in the first race of the day a group of four was leading for a long time, only Thomas Steger could keep up with Jason Osborne in the evening race. In the end, however, it was once again the E-Sports World Champion who was able to push the highest wattage numbers in both races and brought home the victory.

In the evening, the sprint for third place turned out to be extremely exciting, which Mauro Schmid was able to win with full commitment. He beat the very consistent Hermann Pernsteiner by a few hundredths. It was a sweaty affair for both the riders in the Saalsporthalle and those pedalling at home.

The European time trial champion Marlen Reusser showed that she is also strong over the digital hills in Lugano and Lausanne. She took three minutes or more off her competitors. Like Osborne, she also credited herself with her third win in the third race. Find out how she likes the atmosphere among the athletes in the interview.

Finally, there are the digital races in Basel and Zurich tomorrow. For the athletes, it means one more day to get everything out of themselves. Team Lugano also has to defend its first place in the overall standings.
